Theoria TV is a personal IPTV player application developed for private family use. The application is available at theoriatv.app and distributed as an Android APK.
Theoria TV is a player application only. We do not produce, host, broadcast, or distribute any television content, movies, or series. All content is accessed through IPTV subscriptions that users configure and manage themselves.
Simple version: Theoria TV is a tool — like a remote control — that connects to your own IPTV subscription. We don't control what content is available through your provider.
Theoria TV collects the minimum information necessary to function. All data listed below is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to Theoria TV servers.

All sensitive data including IPTV credentials, profile PINs, and API tokens are stored using Android's EncryptedSharedPreferences backed by the Android Keystore system with AES-256-GCM encryption. This means even if someone gained physical access to your device, your credentials cannot be read without your device's unlock credentials.
Profile PINs are never stored as plain text. They are hashed using SHA-256 with a unique random salt before storage. The original PIN cannot be recovered — only verified.
Theoria TV never collects any of the following:
We have no user accounts, no registration, and no login to Theoria TV itself. You are anonymous to us.
Theoria TV connects to the following third-party services at your direction. Each connection is made because you configured it in the app — we don't connect to any service without your action.
When you add an IPTV source, the app communicates directly with your provider's server using the credentials you entered. Your provider's privacy policy governs what data they collect about your viewing. Theoria TV does not intercept or store this communication beyond caching channel lists on your device for performance.
Important: IPTV stream URLs contain your username and password as part of the URL structure (this is how the Xtream Codes protocol works — all IPTV players use this same method). These URLs are never logged, stored to disk, or shared with anyone. They exist in memory only while you are watching.
Theoria TV uses the TMDB API to fetch movie and TV show artwork,
descriptions, ratings, and cast information. When you browse VOD
content, your app makes requests to api.themoviedb.org.
TMDB may log these API requests. No personal identifying information
is included in these requests — only search terms (movie/show titles).

If you configure an OpenSubtitles account in Settings, the app will
authenticate using your username and password to search and download
subtitle files. Your OpenSubtitles credentials are stored encrypted
on your device. All requests to OpenSubtitles are proxied through
our Cloudflare Worker at api.theoriatv.app — this proxy
injects our API key server-side so it never appears in the app.
Your OpenSubtitles username and password are sent directly to
OpenSubtitles for authentication and are never stored by us.

Our subtitle proxy server runs on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare may log metadata about requests (IP address, timestamps) as part of their standard infrastructure operation. We do not access or store these logs. The proxy does not log subtitle search queries or any personal data.

Theoria TV includes optional crash reporting powered by Firebase Crashlytics. This is off by default and can be enabled or disabled at any time in Settings → About → Send Crash Reports.
When enabled, if the app crashes, an anonymised crash report is sent to Firebase containing:
Crash reports never contain your IPTV credentials, profile names, watch history, or any personal information.

If you configure optional media server sources (Jellyfin, Emby, or Stalker Portal), the app communicates directly with the server address you provide using the credentials you enter. These are typically servers you own and operate yourself. Their respective privacy policies apply to any data they collect.
All app data is stored in the app's private storage on your device. This storage is:
Movies and TV show episodes downloaded for offline viewing are stored in the app's private internal storage directory. Other apps cannot access these files. Files are deleted when you delete them in the app or when you uninstall Theoria TV.
Theoria TV does not operate any servers that store your data. All data retention is controlled by you through your device. You can clear all app data at any time via Android Settings → Apps → Theoria TV → Clear Data, or by uninstalling the app.
Theoria TV includes robust parental control features specifically designed to protect younger users:
Theoria TV does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Children using Kids profiles interact only with content — no personal data is collected from them that is different from any other user (which is none, as described in this policy).
For parents: The Kids profile is not a substitute for parental supervision. Content filtering depends on accurate rating data from TMDB and your IPTV provider. We recommend reviewing your provider's content before granting children access.
Because all your data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it at all times:
All data the app stores is on your own device. You can view diagnostics and logs at any time via Settings → Diagnostics.
You can export your favourites and My List at any time via Settings → Backup. This creates a local file on your device that you control.
Go to Settings → About → Send Crash Reports and toggle it off. This immediately stops any crash data from being sent to Firebase.
Because Theoria TV does not collect, process, or store personal data on any servers we operate, the formal data subject rights under GDPR (right to access, erasure, portability, restriction, objection) and CCPA (right to know, delete, opt-out) are satisfied by your direct control over your own device and the opt-out mechanisms described above.
For crash reporting data held by Firebase/Google, you may request deletion by contacting us at [email protected] and we will submit a deletion request to Firebase on your behalf. Note that crash reports contain no personally identifying information.
Crash reporting via Firebase Crashlytics is disabled by default. You must explicitly enable it in Settings.
When you enable crash reporting you are helping improve Theoria TV by allowing anonymised technical error reports to be sent when the app crashes unexpectedly. These reports help us identify and fix bugs.
Theoria TV is a player application only. We do not provide, host, stream, broadcast, or distribute any television channels, movies, or series content.
All content accessed through Theoria TV is provided by third-party IPTV services that users configure themselves. Users are solely responsible for ensuring that their IPTV subscriptions and the content they access comply with all applicable laws in their jurisdiction, including copyright law.
Theoria TV does not endorse any specific IPTV provider and makes no representations about the legality of content available through any provider. If you have concerns about specific content or providers, please contact your IPTV provider directly.
Third-party service providers integrated into Theoria TV (TMDB, OpenSubtitles) are used in accordance with their respective terms of service and API usage policies.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes we will:
Continued use of Theoria TV after changes to this policy constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree with changes, you may disable crash reporting (the only data sharing we do) or uninstall the app.
We will never introduce advertising, user tracking, or sale of personal data. Any future update to this policy will only reflect technical changes to how the app functions.
